This session will be delivered by Cleon Wilson.

Cleon is a qualified teacher who has over 17 years’ experience in school governance. Over the years he has worked with several London boroughs to deliver specialised sessions which support new and experienced governors. Sessions have included: Introduction to School Governance, Taking the Chair, Being Ready for Ofsted, and Understanding the SEF.

Cleon is also an experienced school governor and since 2004 has served in various roles including Chair. He has sat on the Boards of primary, secondary academy and nursery schools as a parent, staff, LA and co-opted governor.

This session is aimed at new headteachers and school leaders who want to develop a better understanding of how school finance actually works.

  • The different types of funding available to schools and how this is distributed
  • What different types of funding can be used for
  • Budget monitoring
  • Reporting

This session will be delivered by Samantha Golding

Samantha has worked in finance management and leadership roles for over 17 years. She joined the education sector in 2014 working as a School Office Manager and then quickly progressed to the role of School Business Manager. Samantha is currently a Deputy Chief Finance Officer for a primary multi-academy trust. In her role she helps to ensure financial sustainability and development of the Trust.
